Was Avenged Sevenfold popular in the 90s?

Avenged Sevenfold was not popular in the 90s. They formed in 1999 and released their debut album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, in 2001. They gained popularity in the early 2000s with their albums Waking the Fallen (2003) and City of Evil (2005).
