Percy is eager to ask her about his father and the prophecy that threatens him. However, the Oracle is terrified of him, claiming he is "the chosen one," the "child of the Big Three," and that "he must be saved, or the world will be destroyed." She also warns him of a "terrible evil" that is approaching.
Before Percy can ask further questions, the Oracle falls into a trance and begins speaking in tongues. This frightens Annabeth and Grover, and they drag Percy away before he can be hurt. The chapter ends with Percy wondering if he is truly a hero or a villain, and what his destiny holds.
