Why did Dorothy and her friends want to see the Wizard?

Dorothy and Toto were caught up in a tornado and transported to the magical world of Oz. However, Dorothy desired to return to her home in Kansas. As instructed by the Good Witch of the North, Dorothy embarked on a journey to visit the Wizard of Oz in the Emerald City. Believing that the Wizard holds the power to grant her wish and help her fulfill her desire, Dorothy and her companions (Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion) set out to seek the Wizard's counsel and assistance.
