Homemade Fog Machine Fluid

Fog machine fluid can get expensive, especially if you use it regularly. You will need a number of products, but they are easy to obtain. Making your own fog juice can be dangerous. Even the correct chemicals are toxic in large doses, and most of them are flammable. If you decide to make your own fog machine fluid, use caution. Trying homemade fog juice may void the warranty on your fog machine. Carefully read the directions that came with your fog machine.
  1. Ingredients

    • You need distilled water, glycerin, diethylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, propylene glycol, and triethylene glycol. Distilled water is necessary because regular or mineral water will clog a fog machine.

    Where to Get the Ingredients

    • Glycerin can be purchased at pharmacies or chemical supply stores. The four glycols can be purchased in the home department of a chemical supply store.

    How to Create

    • Use 15 to 35 percent glycols, mixed with distilled water. Try a small amount in the fog machine to test it. If you would like a thicker fog, add more of the glycols.

Do all mixing in an open space to prevent any inhalation hazards during fog juice creation.
