Is Precious based on a real person?

The character of Precious Jones from the 2009 movie "Precious" is not based on a real person. She is a fictional character created by Sapphire, the author of the 1996 novel "Push" on which the movie is based. Precious's experiences and circumstances in the novel and movie are not a direct reflection of any real individual's life.
