Why is darry concerned about dreams?

In the book "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, Darry does not express any particular concerns about dreams. His concerns generally revolve around taking care of his younger brothers, Ponyboy and Sodapop, after their parents' passing, providing for the family, and navigating the socio-economic challenges they face as members of the "Greasers" in their community.
