How to Flick Change a Card

The flick change, more commonly known as the "snap change," is a visually impressive card trick. The flick change allows you to change one card into another instantly. It happens right in front of the spectator. Although impressive, the secret principle behind the flick change is a very basic and common premise in card magic.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold both cards in your left hand with the index and middle fingers one one side, and the thumb on the other. Make sure the cards are squared, one behind the other, so both cards appear as one.

    • 2

Press your middle finger into the front card. Slide it down and into your palm, dragging the front card with it. At the same time, flick the middle finger of your right hand against the back of the second card. That creates a noise that covers the sound of the cards scraping against one another.

    • 3

Continue dragging the front card down until it clears the card behind it. Once it is clear, pinch it between your middle finger and the side of your thumb. Keep the second card firmly pinched between your index finger and thumb.

    • 4

Prominently display the second card, keeping all edges of the first card behind it.
