On Pokemon do you need a gameboy advanced for the mystery gift cable or can use Nintendo ds?

The Game Boy Advance can use a standard link cable to connect to the third generation of Pokémon games. The Nintendo DS uses a different type of cable, so it cannot be used with the Mystery Gift feature in those games. There are DS-specific Mystery Gifts, but they are handled through Wi-Fi.
