What is the chocolate bar dance?

The chocolate bar dance is a dance associated with the Northern Soul style of music from the late 1960s and 1970s. Dancers who follow this style attempt to move their bodies smoothly and slowly in time to the music, while keeping their body in close proximity to the floor and to give a visual "chocolate bar effect". Northern soul DJs often call out 'Chocolate bar!" from the DJ booth to encourage the correct dancing style at an event.
