In 1969, they decided that they needed a logo. One of the band members, Mick Jagger, was inspired by the Hindu goddess Kali. He had the artist John Pasche create a logo that combined the lips of Kali with the tongue of the Rolling Stones. The colors were chosen because they wanted the logo to look "druggy".
The Rolling Stones logo has been used on albums, posters, t-shirts, and other merchandise. It is one of the most recognizable logos in the world.
