How did kumina start?

Kumina originated in West Africa and was brought to Jamaica by enslaved Africans during the transatlantic slave trade. It later merged with elements of Christianity to create a syncretic religious practice. Kumina became an important part of Jamaican cultural rituals, especially among rural and Rastafarian communities, preserving African traditions amid colonial oppression.
