Fill out the BFM casting call application form (see Resources).
Appear at the BFM casting call as scheduled.
Perform a song or dance number (depending on what you're trying out for) to impress the casting agents. The BFM combines classical, modern and traditional Mexican dance forms, so your performance should demonstrate proficiency in some or all of these styles.
Apply to the School of the Ballet Folklorico, which is affiliated with the BFM and was also founded by Amalia Hernandez. The school is located in Mexico City.
Complete the four-year program, which focuses on Mexican folk dance. Graduates receive the diploma of Practicing Dancer.
Try out for the BFM company after completing the program. Attending the School is not required for trying out, but three quarters of the company members are graduates of the program.
