What are the major deserts in Indonesia?

Indonesia doesn't have any major deserts in the traditional sense. The country's climate is generally tropical, with high humidity and abundant rainfall.

However, there are some arid regions in Indonesia, which are characterized by low rainfall and sparse vegetation. These regions are mostly located in the eastern part of the country, including:

* Timor: The island of Timor, particularly the eastern part, experiences a semi-arid climate with limited rainfall.

* Sumba: Similar to Timor, Sumba is another island with a semi-arid climate.

* Flores: The island of Flores has some dry areas, especially in the western and northern regions.

* Nusa Tenggara Barat: Some parts of this province, particularly the eastern coast, experience a semi-arid climate.

These regions are not true deserts like the Sahara or Atacama, but they are characterized by limited rainfall and relatively sparse vegetation. The aridity is mainly attributed to the rain shadow effect created by the high mountains in the eastern islands.

While these areas may have characteristics resembling deserts, they are not considered major deserts due to their limited extent and the presence of some vegetation and water sources.
