What is the meaning of binoyugan dance?

Binoyugan, also known as Binoyan or Bayok, is a ritual dance that the Bagobo and Tagakaulo from Mindanao tribes perform. Traditionally performed by a female healer in thanksgiving for curing the sick, it represents a woman possessed by spirits.

The main focus of the binoyugan ritual is dance to drive away illness. Binoyugan dance is accompanied by a song as part of a thanksgiving ritual for a successfully treated patient after a seance conducted.
