Where does viejo pascuero come from?

The name Viejo Pascuero is the Spanish name for Santa Claus, which is the Americanized name of Saint Nicholas. Saint Nicholas was a 4th-century saint from Myra in modern-day Turkey. He was known for his generosity, and he is said to have given gifts to children on the eve of his feast day, December 6th. The tradition of Santa Claus bringing gifts on Christmas Eve is thought to have originated in the 19th century in the United States.
