Where did Adam Lambert perform before?

Before gaining fame as a contestant on American Idol, where he finished as runner-up of the eighth season, Adam Lambert performed in musical theatre productions and local stage productions. He appeared in productions such as "Wicked" and "Hair" at the La Jolla Playhouse in California. He also worked as a recording session vocalist and with cover bands before auditioning for American Idol in 2009.
