Where did the ghost dance come from?

The Ghost Dance originated among the Northern Paiute people in western Nevada in 1889. It was a religious movement that spread to other Native American tribes in the Great Basin and Plains regions of the United States. The Ghost Dance was a response to the devastating effects of European colonization on Native American communities, including the loss of land, culture, and way of life. The dance was seen as a way to bring about spiritual renewal and the return of the dead, as well as to create a pan-Indian alliance to resist white oppression.
