When did rap come out?

Rap emerged in the late 1970s in the South Bronx, New York City, United States. It originated as a part of the hip hop culture and was initially called "rapping" or "MCing". The first rap song is generally considered to be "King Tim III (Personality Jock)" by the Fatback Band, released in 1979.
