Eminem started rapping as a teenager and often got into battles with other rappers. He attended open mic nights and gained popularity through his freestyle skills and humorous lyrics. He gained recognition in the local Detroit hip-hop community, where he participated in battles and eventually won local rap competitions.
In his early days, Eminem also became involved in a group called "Soul Intent," which released an EP in 1995. However, the group disbanded shortly after, leading him to pursue a solo career.
It was in 1996 that Eminem caught the attention of Dr. Dre, a renowned record producer and rapper. Dr. Dre was impressed with Eminem's talent after listening to his demo tape titled "Infinite." He signed Eminem to his label, Aftermath Entertainment, which kickstarted Eminem's rise to stardom.
Since then, Eminem has become one of the most influential and successful rappers in history, with numerous critically acclaimed albums, hit singles, and accolades under his belt. His unique rapping style, often dark, humorous, and introspective lyrics, combined with his storytelling abilities and technical prowess, have made him an icon in the hip-hop industry.
