What are the basic dance terms in dancing carinosa?

The basic dance steps of Carinosa are as follows:

1. Basic Step

- Partners face each other with arms at their sides.

- The man places his left hand on the woman's right shoulder and the woman places her right hand on the man's left shoulder.

- They step forward on their left foot and tap their right foot in front.

- They then step forward on their right foot and tap their left foot in front.

- Then they step forward on their left foot again and to the side with their right foot, making a quarter turn to the left.

- The step is then repeated on the opposite foot, going to the right.

- The dancers repeat the steps, moving forward as they go.

2. Turn Step

- The man places his right hand on the woman's left shoulder and the woman places her left hand on the man's right shoulder.

- They step forward on their right feet, and simultaneously turn clockwise so the woman is facing the opposite way.

- They then step back on their left feet and turn counter clockwise to the original position.

- The step is repeated, this time starting on the left foot and turning counter clockwise in a mirror image of the first part of the step.

3. Cross Step

- The man and woman face each other with clasped hands.

- They take a step to the right with their right foot, cross it in front of the left foot, and then step forward on the left foot.

- They repeat the step on the left side.

4. Twirl Step

- The man holds both of the woman's hands in his and twirls her as many times as the song allows.

- At the end of the twirl, the man gently pulls the woman back to his chest.

5. Tagalog Shuffle Step

- In this solo step, the man's body and shoulder stay in place.

- He raises his right heel, bends his knee and shuffles it towards the left and the right.

- He repeats the step with the left heel and then both heels simultaneously for eight counts.
