What is a typical day for choreographer?

Morning:

- Attend a production meeting: This is where the choreographer will meet with the director, other designers, and the production team to discuss the overall vision for the show and to make sure everyone is on the same page.

- Warm up: Before starting to choreograph, the choreographer will warm up their body so they can move freely and safely.

- Work on choreography: Once they are warmed up, the choreographer will begin working on the choreography. This may involve creating new steps, refining existing steps, and setting the choreography to music.

- Rehearse with dancers: The choreographer will rehearse with the dancers to teach them the choreography and to make sure they understand the overall vision for the show.

Afternoon:

- Attend additional production meetings: The choreographer may attend additional production meetings to discuss progress or to make changes to the choreography.

- Continue working on choreography: The choreographer will continue working on the choreography, making sure it is consistent with the show's overall vision and that it meets the needs of the dancers.

- Hold auditions ( if necessary): If the choreographer is still looking for dancers, they will hold auditions.

Evening:

- Attend rehearsals: The choreographer will attend rehearsals to watch the dancers perform the choreography and to make adjustments as needed.

- Give notes: The choreographer will give notes to the dancers on their technique, performance, and overall interpretation of the choreography.

- Continue working on choreography: The choreographer will continue working on the choreography, making sure it is ready for the final dress rehearsal and opening night.

In addition to these tasks, the choreographer will also be responsible for:

- Maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

- Communicating effectively with the director and other designers.

- Managing the budget for the choreography.

- Making sure the choreography is safe for the dancers to perform.
