What are some dance positions?

* First position: This is the most basic ballet position. The feet are turned out, and the heels are together. The toes are pointed forward, and the arms are held at the sides of the body.

* Second position: The feet are turned out, and the heels are about hip-width apart. The toes are still pointed forward, and the arms are held at shoulder height.

* Third position: The feet are turned out, and the front foot is placed in front of the back foot so that the toes are touching. The arms are held above the head.

* Fourth position: The feet are turned out, and the feet are crossed so that the toes of the front foot are in line with the heel of the back foot. The arms are held at shoulder height.

* Fifth position: This is the most advanced ballet position. The feet are turned out, and the toes of one foot are placed against the instep of the other. The arms are held overhead.
