How much do dance choreographers make?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for choreographers was $49,505 in May 2020. The lowest 10% of earners made less than $25,180, and the highest 10% earned more than $90,880.

Choreographers who work for large dance companies or theaters may earn more than those who work for smaller organizations or who are self-employed. Choreographers who work for television or film may also earn higher salaries.

In addition to salary, choreographers may also receive royalties from their work. Royalties are payments that are made to choreographers each time their work is performed. The amount of royalties that a choreographer receives can vary depending on the contract they have with the organization that is performing their work.
