Look for websites offering video instructions. You may get written instructions as well, such as those from Darin Carter (see Resources below). You will learn much faster by watching techniques and listening to descriptions of those techniques.
Look for breakdancing lessons online to get some quick lessons. Look for teachers who break each move down into the most basic movements possible.
Take advantage of opportunities to save online video breakdancing lessons to your computer to watch any time you want.
Replay each section of a video lesson until you can copy the movements of the teacher. For example, when learning a pop and lock move, replay the video for each pop until you can make the pop successfully.
Slow down and take your time learning each move well before you move on to another move. If you practice sloppy moves, you will get very good at dancing sloppily and not improve your technique.
Take your practice to a mirror to see how well you are moving with the music and how smooth you look.
Use a video camera occasionally to record your breakdancing so you can see how well you are dancing and where improvements can be made.
Make up your own variations to the moves you learn when you take breakdancing lessons online to create your own unique style.
