Who is most likely to get tourettes syndrome?
Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by tics. It is more common in males than females, with a ratio of about 4:1. TS is also more common in people with a family history of the condition. Additional risk factors include:
- Low birth weight
- Premature birth
- Maternal smoking during pregnancy
- Alcohol use during pregnancy
It's important to note that these are risk factors and they do not guarantee that someone will develop TS. The exact cause of the condition is still not fully understood.
