What is a catwalk choreographer?

Definition:

A catwalk choreographer's job is to create and design how fashion models walk during fashion shows. They design various walk patterns, movements sequences and formations that models would execute on the runway. They also supervise the models during rehearsals, ensuring they execute those movements flawlessly during the actual show.

Catwalk choreographers work hand-in-hand with fashion designers, ensuring that their choreographies enhance the overall theme of fashion show and complement the designs being presented. They collaborate with creative directors, costume designers and other production team members to bring the fashion show's vision to live on the runway.

They are responsible for:

- Developing intricate walking sequences that showcase fashion design in the best possible way.

- Coordinating the movement of numerous models on the runway ensuring that they maintain proper spacing and timing

- Ensuring the models understand the choreography and execute it with confidence and precision

- Adapting the choreography to the specific catwalk's size, shape and layout.

- Managing model's entrances and exits

- Overseeing rehearsals to ensure that the show runs smoothly and effectively.
