How are mercy and grace similar?

Mercy and grace are similar in that they both involve the concept of forgiveness and benevolence. Mercy refers to the act of compassion or leniency shown to someone who has wronged or is in distress, especially when it involves the waiving of punishment or penalties. Grace, on the other hand, refers to the undeserved favor, kindness, or blessing bestowed upon someone, often without regard to their merits or actions. Both mercy and grace involve a compassionate or generous response to someone, usually in a situation where they have made an error or are in a vulnerable position.
