Lyman Howard Sproul (1893-1978) was an American botanist and professor of botany at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1923 to 1963. He was also the dean of the College of Letters and Science from 1958 to 1963.

Sproul published extensively on the taxonomy and ecology of plants, including the following books:

- Some Investigations on the Vegetation of the San Francisco Bay Region (1929)

Sproul was a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and the California Academy of Sciences. He was also a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
