How did the author foreshadow that church would catch fire in chapter five on book outsiderse?

The author foreshadowed the church burning down in chapters one. It begins with Pony explaining the social issues the greasers encounter in their daily life. The most prevalent issue being the conflict with the socs. At the beginning of the chapter it reads; “It’s just us greasers against Socs in this part of town, and some night you won’t come home again and I’ll have to lie, say you drowned on an outing or got killed fighting in a war to stop all the guys around her from tearing themselves too much,” the passage uses phrases indicating a negative event like drowning or dying in war. When you continue read in chapter five the church goes on fire while Johnny and Ponyboy are hiding there which causes readers to connect both situations.
