Why was the globe associated with William Shakespeare?

William Shakespeare wrote several famous plays featuring the character Falstaff, a knight with the title Sir John Falstaff. This Falstaff has become one of the most famous literary knights worldwide as well as one of the most often quoted. The first name of this knight, John, and his title "Sir" have led the Globe Theatre - and by extension William Shakespeare as its most important playwright - to become associated with the knight of the round table, Sir Lancelot.
