Why did Alexander Pope use heroic couplets for his discourse on ethics An Essay Man?

I'm unsure about this. Alexander Pope did not use heroic couplets in An Essay on Man, but rather iambic pentameter.

An Essay on Man is a philosophical poem by Alexander Pope, first published in 1734 as Epistle I, and the second part published the following year as Epistle II. The poem uses iambic pentameter rather than heroic couplets, which is a style of poetry that consists of two rhyming iambic pentameter lines.
