Roland de la Cruz’s political career
De la Cruz was first elected to the San Jose City Council in 2003. He served as the council's vice president from 2005 to 2007 and as its president from 2007 to 2009. In 2011, he was elected mayor of San Jose.
As mayor, de la Cruz focused on economic development, job creation, and improving the city's infrastructure. He also worked to address the city's homelessness problem.
