Character analysis of Natalya in Marriage proposal Chekhov?
Natalya Stepanovna is the 25-year-old daughter of Stepan Stepanovitch Tschubukov and his wife. A pretty, intelligent, and well-educated young woman, she is not without a sharp tongue. She is not as taken with Lomov as her father wants her to be and is quick to argue with him on any point of contention. She is not afraid of expressing her emotions and opinions and is not easily intimidated by Lomov's blustering. She is the only one who can stand up to Lomov and call him out on his pompous and arrogant behavior, and she is also the only one who can calm him down when he gets too excited or upset. Although she claims not to be interested in marriage, she does eventually accept Lomov's proposal.
