Is paper once alive or never alive?

Paper is never alive.

Here's why:

* Paper is made from plant fibers: These fibers come from trees, which are living organisms.

* The process of making paper involves killing the trees: The trees are harvested, and their wood is processed to extract the fibers.

* The fibers are then chemically treated and processed: This breaks down the original plant cells and structure, creating a new material that no longer has the properties of living tissue.

While the raw materials for paper come from living organisms, the finished product is not itself alive.
