How many shakespeare coined words did not catch on?

It is often claimed that William Shakespeare coined over 1,700 words, but not all of these were lasting additions to the English language. However, the exact number of words coined by Shakespeare that did not catch on is not known. Many of his coinages were words that were already in use in some form but that he gave a new meaning or usage, such as "multitudinous" and "unspeakable." Others were simply words that he invented himself, such as "swashbuckler" and "lackluster."While Shakespeare's vocabulary was undoubtedly extensive, it is also true that many of the words he used were relatively obscure and did not become widely used until well after his death. It is also important to note that the vast majority of words in the English language were not coined by Shakespeare, but rather evolved naturally over time.
