Did she write anything before Harry Potter?

J.K. Rowling (Joanne Kathleen Rowling) wrote several novels and short stories before the publication of the Harry Potter series. One of her notable early works is a historical crime novel titled "The Cuckoo's Calling," which she published under the pseudonym "Robert Galbraith" in 2013, initially without revealing her real identity. The book became a bestseller and was followed by a series of crime novels featuring the private investigator Cormoran Strike and his partner Robin Ellacott.

Before writing "The Cuckoo's Calling," J.K. Rowling had also ventured into screenwriting and produced a television series called "Casual Vacancy," based on her 2012 novel of the same name.

Additionally, she authored several short stories, including the 2008 children's book "The Tales of Beedle the Bard," which is presented within the Harry Potter universe as a collection of wizarding fairy tales.

Although J.K. Rowling's fame is predominantly associated with the phenomenal success of the Harry Potter series, she did have some prior literary accomplishments and explored different genres before fully embracing the world of wizardry that brought her international renown.
