Who is Maid Marion in the Tale of Robin Hood?

Maid Marion is the legendary love interest of Robin Hood, the outlaw hero of English folklore. She is often portrayed as a skilled archer, as well as a compassionate and loyal companion to Robin Hood. In some versions of the tale, she is also depicted as a noblewoman who has chosen to live in the forest with the outlaws.
