Why is Theo James Four in Divergent?

Theo James' character in the Divergent film series is called Four; his real name is Tobias Eaton. This is because in the book series that the film is based on, all members of the Dauntless faction are given a single-word alias, and Four is the alias that Tobias chooses for himself.
