In this episode, Spencer confronts Melissa while trying to clear Ian for killing Alison, but learns of another secret of hers while Aria's relationship takes a hit. When Mona tries to join Ali's grave digging ceremony but fails, the four decide to have their ceremony for Ali when Hanna reveals they've planned one on Spencer's computer; when Mona reveals she deleted everything to hide her attempt of joining, they turn on her but end up comforting her when it's revealed that her mother committed suicide, which led to bullying of Mona herself.
Meanwhile, Emily's dad takes a leave from the police.
