Why is the novel holes a mystery?

Holes is not a mystery novel, it is an adventure novel. It is about a boy who is unjustly accused of a crime he did not commit and is sent to a juvenile detention center called Camp Green Lake. The novel follows the boy as he tries to prove his innocence and escape from the camp.
