Wands are used to perform and, most importantly, control, magical acts such as casting spells.
Wands range in size according to a witch or wizard's height, the largest known wand being 16 inches (Hagrid's).
Wands are made of wood, such as vinewood, willow, yew and holly, with a magical item in the core, such as dragon heartstring, unicorn tail hair or phoenix feather.
Wands choose the wizard, and no two are the same, most having been created by Britain's finest wand-maker, Mr. Ollivander.
Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort have sibling wands, each containing a feather from a phoenix named Fawkes.
