Where to Buy Trixie Belden Books

The Trixie Belden series is a set of books featuring a group of teenagers who form a club called The Bob-Whites of the Glen and solve mysteries. The first book in the series, "The Secret of the Mansion," was published in 1948. Between 1948 and 1986, a total of 39 Trixie Belden books were published.
  1. The Series

    • In the first book, Trixie is 13 years old. In a later book, she has a birthday and turns 14 but never ages beyond that for the remainder of the series. The main characters include Trixie, her two brothers, her best friend, her best friend's adopted brother and two other friends from school. Although Trixie is a young, female investigator, she is completely different from Nancy Drew in that Trixie's family is not wealthy, and Trixie often works odd jobs for extra cash. Trixie often finds herself in hot water due to her impulsive actions.

    Finding Original Releases

    • Finding an original Trixie Belden book is not an easy task. Book deals are sometimes unearthed at garage sales, flea markets and used book stores, but you can't count on any of those as a reliable source. An Internet search is generally the most efficient way to find a reseller of published originals. A good place to begin your search is Amazon.com, which contains many listings for both new and used books. Sites like Craigslist.com have a for-sale section for books and also provide the ability to post an ad for items you are looking to buy. Posting on Craigslist.com is free.

Some businesses specialize in the acquisition and sale of original releases. Booksellers Christine Volk and Shep Liams usually maintain a large available list of Trixie Belden originals for purchase on their website Bookfever.com. Abebooks.com is another source for original releases.

    New Releases

    • In 2003, Random House re-released the first four books in the Trixie Belden series. They followed that release with books 5 through 9 in 2004, 10 through 13 in 2005, and 14 and 15 in 2006. There have been no re-releases since 2006, and Random House has not given any indication that they have plans to re-release more of the series.

You can purchase re-released books in most retail bookstores or order them online through Barnesandnoble.com. Fans can only hope that Random House changes their mind about publishing the remainder of the series or sells the rights to another publisher interested in re-releasing the remainder of the books.
