How to Cite an Anonymous Source

Plagiarism is easily avoided with the use of proper citations and a reference page. Citing sources gives credit and integrity to any paper. Even if the author or authors of a particular source are unknown, the resource still .ust be cited because it is not your original work. For many English or other humanities courses, the MLA format is preferred or required.

Instructions

      Write the name of book. Follow with a period. For an article, write the title of the article within quotation marks.

      Book Example: Western Civilization.

      Article Example: "Generic Foods."

      Write the city of publication for the book. Follow with colon. List the publisher and year, separate by a comma. For an article name the periodical. List date in day first then abbreviated month second, then year. Follow by colon. List page(s).

      Book Example: Belmont: Thompson, 2006.

      Article Example: Woman's World 18 Feb. 1998: 12-13.

      Write Print at end of all information.

      Book Example: Western Civilization. Belmont: Thompson, 2006. Print.

      Article Example: "Generic Foods." Woman's World 18 Feb. 1998: 12-13. Print.
