Take the time to have a chat with the ladies and gentlemen you’ll be inviting to join your book club. Ask each member about their favorite author, their favorite kind of books, and why each individual reads. This will give you a great idea of the type of books you should prepare.
Once you’ve chosen what genre you think your friends will enjoy, visit book publishers websites. Search for some of your friend’s favorite authors. Near the bottom of many of the pages there will be a section that makes suggestions of similar authors or titles.
Read the descriptions, and pick something you think everyone in the group will like. Some books may have a book club guide that come in the back of the book. Read this thoroughly since it will give you an idea of topics to discuss a the book club meetings.
Make a trip to a local book store. The people who run the store will have a good idea about books that are popular in your area as well.
Enlist the help of everybody in the group. Take turns picking a book for the group. if you trust your members, you may just have your mind opened to books you never imagined you would love.
