Develop a template that will be easy to fill out and easy for students to read.
Include spaces for the title, author, genre and a very short plot summary.
Use a graphic image (such as happy or sad faces, thumbs up or down) to indicate whether you recommend the book.
Print the template.
Choose a book to review. You can ask a children's librarian for recommendations, look at the web resources at the bottom of this article or find one that intrigues you at the local bookstore.
Read the book twice. Read it yourself and then try to read it to at least one primary student.
Discuss the book with someone, ideally your primary reader or another child.
Fill out your template using short, clear sentences and neat handwriting.
Share your book review. If you're a primary teacher or parent, post it near your available books.
