Talk to your friends or neighbors and see if they know of a club or maybe they would like to start one.
Go to your local library. There are bulletin boards that usually list book clubs or the reference librarian might know of some in the area or the library itself.
Check your local bookstores. There are often boards with postings of book clubs or the store may have one of its own.
Reading the local newspaper under "clubs" or checking the community center are other options to locate urban book clubs.
Decide on the genre you would like to read. Harelquin, Worldwide Mystery and Steeple Hill Love Inspired all offer two books free if you join their book clubs. Inward Journey books on Buddhism offer all its titles for free at www.buddanet.net//jpp/htm. There are many other companies that to do this. You could join their clubs, get the books and go discuss them locally.
Rent books from places such as www.booksfree.com. You choose the titles you wish to read and add as many as you wish to your list. They send you the first one, you return it, and they send the next on the list to you automatically. Again, this isn't the only company available for this service.
Use your library card. You can borrow the books you want to use for your book club and return them when completed.
Try electronic books online. There are literally thousands of titles available for viewing free online. Some from independent publishers: www.discoverbook.com, www.mybookpublisher.com and www.browzerbooks.com. Some are from major works: www.wowio.com and www.harpercollins.com. Many others are available.
