Instructions

Before you begin, make sure that you have copyrighted your work and that you copyright the sound recording of that work as well.

Use a program that converts text into speech. This is generally one of the easiest ways to make an audiobook. While in the past these voice programs tended to sound robotic, these days it is possible to use digital voices that are indistinguishable from human speech. Using a good software program, you can also experiment with different dialects and accents, speech patterns and even other languages. Once you are satisfied with the finished product you can burn it onto a CD.

Rent a professional recording studio in your area. You can make the recording yourself using your own voice or you can even hire professional voice actors. Since every studio session costs money, this is probably the most expensive option, but if you can afford it you will be assured of a professional sounding recording.

Make your own recording at home. By using a microphone and a good audio recording program you can make your audio book at home. You will need a pop filter to place between your mouth and the microphone. This helps to eliminate the \"popping\" noise often caused by singing or speaking certain letters, such as \"p\". You will also need to use a blanket or acoustic foam to muffle or eliminate background noise and interference. Once you're satisfied with your performance you can save it as an MP3 and burn it onto a CD.
