Read old issues of True Story to get a feel of style and preferred content. Issues may be found at a local library or specialty magazine shop. You may also write and request sample issues.
Ask for submission guidelines via mail, including a self-addressed stamped envelop, by writing to: True Story Magazine, Dorchester Media, L.L.C., 333 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY 10001. The magazine pays 5 cents a word. Guidelines are not available online.
Write your own true story, holding nothing back. Include details on how you felt. Change names, if you like. Write about your first year of college, how losing weight changed your life, or about moving to a new town or state. Send your inspirational story, but don't preach or quote Scripture. The magazine aims to be a window into the heart, so write from yours.
Submit your manuscript to the editor via the address above or via email at [email protected]. If your tale is not suitable for True Story magazine, the editor may suggest submission to a related publication under the "True" publishing umbrella.
