How to Purchase & Download Books to Read Only on the Internet With No Hard Copy Needed

Smartphones, eReaders and tablet computers are revolutionizing the way consumers buy and read books. You can now carry the equivalent of a small library in your pocket or bag on a device much smaller than a traditional, hardback book. There is now such a large number of online retailers selling a selection of eBooks that, should you not want to, you'll never have to carry a hard-copy book again.

Instructions

  1. iBooks

      Navigate to Apple's App Store on your Apple device.

      Enter "iBooks" into the search box and follow the instructions to download the app.

      Launch "iBooks" and click on "Store" to browse and purchase eBook downloads.

    Kindle

      Navigate to Amazon's Kindle eBook store on your Kindle device or from a computer.

      Select a book you would like to download and click on the option to buy.

      Log into your Amazon account or set one up if you are not an existing customer. If you are accessing the service from a computer, you'll be given the option to download the Kindle Reader to your computer for free.

      Follow the instructions to check out and download your eBook.

    NOOK

      Navigate to Barnesandnoble.com and select the "NOOK books" section in the "All departments" menu to the left of the screen.

      Select an eBook to download and click "Buy now."

      Follow the instructions to create a NOOK account and download the NOOK reader to your device or computer. You will then be able to download and read your purchase.
