How to Submit to Annick Press

While children's books often have fewer pages and use less words than adult books, they can prove just as challenging to write, publish and market. Book publishers like Canada's Annick Press work within the children's and young adult book markets, publishing everything from picture books to books about teen issues like bullying and alienation. They have an open submission policy for new authors with some specific requirements. If you meet these requirements you can successfully submit to Annick Press.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the Annick Press website to see if they are currently accepting submissions of your type: picture books, teen fiction, middle reader fiction or middle reader and teen non-fiction.

    • 2

Print out a type written copy of your book and copies of any illustrations you wish to include in your submission.

    • 3

Write a cover letter describing the nature of your submission, why you feel Annick Press would benefit from publishing your work and thank the reader. Limit the length of the letter to approximately two paragraphs or less and sign your letter in ink.

    • 4

Include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) in envelope with your submission. Ensure that you use enough postage to return the submission materials. If you do not wish to have your materials returned, include a business-sized SASE for their response letter.

    • 5

Mail all the submission materials including the printed manuscript or illustrations, cover letter and SASE.
